PEEK corrosion resistance characteristics

1. PEEK can tolerate almost any chemical except for concentrated sulfuric acid, and even at high temperatures, it can maintain good chemical stability. It has strong resistance to chemical corrosion and is usually used for manufacturing parts that work under harsh environmental conditions or require frequent disinfection treatment (such as chemical storage tanks, medical devices that require disinfection with strong oxidant hydrogen peroxide).

2. Although PEEK polymer has been widely recognized as a material that can withstand extremely strong chemical corrosion, the specific resistance of PEEK to a certain corrosive medium is also related to the crystallinity, residual internal stress, and temperature and concentration of the medium in contact with PEEK parts. Please refer to the following table for details (due to the large file size, please download and check):

3. PEEK's chemical corrosion resistance characteristics are divided into the following three categories:

A: No erosion, trace or no absorption;
B: Slight erosion, whether applicable depends on the application situation;
C: Severe erosion cannot be used in situations where these chemicals are present.

4. The corrosion resistance of PEEK polymers to various organic and inorganic solvents can be found in the attachment:
